David was born and educated in Edinburgh.
Prior to commencing his legal training David worked for many years with disabled adults and children and in welfare rights.
David trained with the child law specialist firm, Wilford Monro. On qualifying as a solicitor in 1999, David began work with Rudlings Wakelam, based in Thetford. He remained with the firm until taking over as principal of Graeme Carmichael solicitors in 2011.
David is a member of the Law Society Children Panel, a Resolution accredited specialist in the areas of Advanced Financial Provision and Children Law and is a Higher Courts Advocate.
David is also a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children.
Kathleen joined the firm in December 2015.
Kathleen qualified as a solicitor in 2008 having trained at Jefferies Solicitors in Southend. On qualifying, Kathleen managed a case load of both public and private work, but very quickly began to specialise in public law work.
Kathleen became a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel in 2013 and undertakes all areas of children work, specialising in care proceedings.
Kathleen is acknowledged as an expert in her field and has a reputation for being a powerful and passionate advocate for her clients, while always ensuring that they always have the benefit of her clear and focused advice.
David and Kathleen have the support of Angela, Estelle, Lisa and Sam who work hard to ensure the smooth running of the firm. We are all kept calm by the office dog Hattie and kept on our toes by the latest addition to the firm, Ella.
